About that god damn Disney Dicks post!! I got two comments in regards to what I said was the problem with the post; that it's not the god damn dicks that are the problem, but the timing in which the dick thread was posted after the stupid gifs. And I make note of the fact that the rape gifs and dicks are not related in any way, but no!!

The two comments I got today:

My comments are from fucking two days ago! Why do you feel the need to reply to me now?? And you didn't even read the full conversation to get my fucking point! SMFH!!! Is it because you just want to correct me and be the superior person on the interwebz?? I don't fucking care! Just quit it and leave me alone with this shit.

Is it just me, or does the internet give people an excuse to sound smarter than they really are.

Sorry if this annoys or offends anyone, and especially for bringing this crap up again, but I'm getting to the point of not caring anymore about this.

EDIT: The lesson here is, don't give any fucks about Jez or any other sub-blog that isn't Oppo or Jalopnik.

Staircase wit has longer and longer incubation on the internet depending where you are. Any Gawker blogs inhabited by more than a low flat percentage of crazies will feature incubation that will astound you. "Mean people suck", but very often mean people are insecure and will harbor things a very long time until "the retort" - whatever weaksauce ad hominem, unfair allusion, false analogy or I-use-big-words-because-I'm-SRMT finally finishes festering and pops out in a pus-laden manner all over everything.

Welcome to Jezebel. I'd avoid that part of Gawker Media like the plague, if I were you. Some of the authors and commentators there will brand you as a misogynist just for existing. I don't even associate Jezebel with feminism, it's just a form of outrage news and click bait. Sadly, amongst all of that muddle, there are some good authors, posts and discussions, but that is usually lost in all the noise.

I have said it before this, but I will repeat it again now. I used to consider myself to be a socially and fiscally liberal person, aligned with many of feminism's core ideas. Then I read Gawker media and Jezebel for 3 years. According to their standards, I should rebrand myself as a misogynistic, racist conservative, because I can't bring myself to support the kind of stuff posted in these places. I dread being grouped in with that lot.

The only worthwhile blogs are the Jalopnik related ones. If you ask some of the Gawker/Jezebel crowd, they'd find it outrageous that people actually care about and love the planet destroying agents called vehicles :-|

The logic isn't adding up here.

At the end of the day, this is the internet. Amongst other uses, it is a tool for people to interact with each other, share their opinions/views, and have a discussion. That's precisely what happened here.

And for the record - not one, single Jezebel commenter came through and attacked you right out of the gate. In fact, far from being antagonistic, the responses that you initially got before you took off and went on the defensive were reasonable, thoughtful, and insightful - which is a damned sight better than may comments that show up on Oppositelock. The responses you received from ellejay, Ladyology, and sugarhill were in fact very respectful. There was a little sarcasm involved, to be sure, but guess what: welcome to the Gawker Media network, where snark and sarcasm are selling points. Get used to it.

You are implicitly asserting that you think others don't take the time to understand what you're saying - but it seems that neither do you take the time to understand what others are saying.

No one attacked you. No one attempted to crucify you. The big, bad Jezzies didn't try to come in and cut off your dick. They simply presented you, in a reasonably respectful manner, with alternative perspectives to consider.

You need to develop a thicker skin, kiddo. If you think the rational responses you got were terrifying, hurtful, or annoying - oh boy, the big bad world is going to have its way with you.

So ... how many total comments did you get? I've gotten home from work and found my number as high 65 for some comment. It doesn't help that this thing is being passed around and made it to that little top three popular stories thing that Sploid usually dominates.

Only advice I can give you is two fold (1) caveat first then try to make your point and (2) never respond to unreasonable responses. The less you say, the less meat there is to find faults.
